Will England beat Panama at the World Cup?
We are supremely confident that England will get the victory against Panama on Sunday. Against Tunisia, who are much stiffer opposition, the Three Lions showed invention, guile and cool heads to get the win they deserved. We think they will have far too much attacking nous for Panama and we can see a win by three or even four goals for Southgate’s men.
So once they’ve got that three points in the bag, the question has to be asked: how far can England actually go in the World Cup in 2018?
It’s fair to say that England haven’t always covered themselves in glory at the World Cup. Okay, we’ll always have 1966. And Italia ’90 was a decent effort. But other than that and England haven’t made the semis in the 12 other World Cups for which they qualified.
Having said that, they have only failed to make it out of their initial group once since 1958 – that was last time out in Brazil in 2014. Lessons were learned from that experience: namely, win some games! But we think England are in a much better place coming into the 2018 World Cup. There seems more desire and less fear and a manager who is the epitome of calmness.
So England will go all the way, right? Well, er, it’s certainly a possibility. With sides such as Argentina, Brazil and Germany stumbling in the group stages, there is a chance the quarter finals might not be as scary as they could have been. If England get a favourable draw in the Round of 16 and Qauters, well, you just never know!
