Can Manchester United boost their season with a huge win over the Italian champions? They host Juventus this week in the first of their double header meeting with the Scudetto holders, with the pair fighting for top spot in the group. United have already had a Champions League setback, after they drew 0-0 at home to Valencia last time around. Can they leapfrog into first place with a home win over Juve?
Man United v Juventus Champions League Group H, Tuesday 23rd October 2018, Old Trafford, Kick off: 8pm
Top Betting Tip
- Juventus to win – at 6/5 with Ladbrokes
Stats, Injuries and Suspensions
The key thing surrounding this clash is the return of Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese talisman has a cloud hanging over his head, but he returns to his old storming ground to face off with Jose Mourinho. Of course, there are much bigger things at stake here, with the duo pushing for top spot in their Champions League group. Juve are aiming to win the competition this season, and they’re going to take some stopping.
Right now, it’s hard to see how Man United can get one over the runaway leaders of Serie A. After stringing together 10 straight wins this term they look unstoppable, especially to a United side who are struggling to make the cut in the Premier League. Mourinho looks to be back in the funk that ended his second spell at Chelsea, and that campaign saw them struggle even to make it into the second round of the Champions League. Taking on a full strength Juve side is likely to be a test too far for the Red Devils.
Man United v Juventus Tips
Juventus come into this clash priced at 6/5 with Ladbrokes to claim the points, and take a comfortable lead in their group. It’s odd to see the visitors come in as favourites at Old Trafford, but that’s how the Red Devils have fallen. They’re not among the European elite right now, and Juventus are forcing themselves into that bracket. This week’s clash should only go to show how far United have to go in order to make up the gap. We’re going with a Juventus win in this encounter, while we’re also backing a 2-0 away win at 9/1 with Betfair.
