Cheltenham Festival Day Four Betting Tips

Day Four at the Cheltenham Festival is all about the Gold Cup, but there are a couple of other big Grade 1 races as well as three handicaps and a foxhunter chase to help you get your betting action. We’ll focus on the three Grade 1s here, the JCB Triumph Hurdle, the Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle and – of course – the Gold Cup itself, which promises to be another classic as Bobs Worth attempts to defend his crown. He’ll face incredibly stiff competition from the like of Silviniacio Conti and others but if you can’t pick between the two favourites check out our offer of the day and have both of them instead!

Cheltenham Gold Cup Betting Tips – 3.20 Cheltenham

The Cheltenham Gold Cup is the most prestigious National Hunt race of them all and with legendary past winners such as Golden Miller, Arkle, Best Mate and Kauto Star, it is a race that catches the imagination of occasional punters and racing aficionados alike.

Last year Bobs Worth put in a fine performance to win by seven lengths from Sir Des Champ, with Long Run and The Giant Bolster in third and fourth. The Nicky Henderson-trained nine-year-old is back here and is installed at the 15/8 favourite with Sky Bet – who offer a £30 free bet to new customers. He fluffed his lines in the Betfair Chase back in November though, and despite a win last time out in the Lexus Chase at Leopardstown, we have our eyes firmly on another runner here.

And that runner is Silviniaco Conti, who is priced at best odds of 3/1 with Coral – who have a fine Bet £5, Get £20 free bet offer for new customers. French eight-year-old Silviniaco Conti last ran on Boxing Day in the King George VI Chase and won by three and half lengths from Cue Card (who won the Ryanair Chase at last year’s Festival) and he is our main pick for the biggest race of the day (and the whole Festival).

JCB Triumph Hurdle Betting Tips – 1.30 Cheltenham

The first race of the final day is the leading event for juveniles in the whole of the jumps calendar and promises to be a fast and frenetic affair. Leading the betting at present is the Paul Nicholls-trained Calipto, priced at 4/1 with Bet365 (who offer free bets of up to a massive £200 to new customers!). He’s won his last two at Newbury, but with little else to go on we think he might be a little short for this one.

Instead we are opting for Irish gelding Guitar Pete – who is priced at 8/1 with Coral – who has won four hurdles this season, including a Grade 1 and a Grade 2 at Leopardstown, and has placed second in two others and looks the value pick by a country mile for this one.

Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle Betting Tips – 2.40 Cheltenham

The Albert Bartlett has been won by some fine runners in recent years including At Fishers Cross and Bobs Worth, and this year’s favourite – Briar Hille – could well have enough to emulate their successes.

Briar Hill is trained by Willie Mullins – who is having a fine Festival at the time of writing – and at odds of just 5/4 with Betfred and others, the bookies are clearly running scared. And with good reason: the Irish six-year-old has won all five of his rules races including three out of three hurdles. While Captain Cutter could be a decent alternative at 10/1 with Coral, our money is going on the favourite Briar Hill for this one.

So good luck with your final day bets and we hope you’ve had a very profitable Cheltenham Festival!
