Coral are one of the major UK high street bookies and their origins go back to the 1920s when Joe Coral set the ball rolling and after various changes down the years they are now owned by the giant gaming group, Gala Coral.

They still have around 1,800 retail outlets and with the combined gaming know-how and experience of Coral and Gala they really know what they’re doing, be it with regards sports betting, bingo or casino games.

Coral Interactive – effectively the online division – is licensed and regulated by Gibraltar’s Gambling Commissioner, much of the operation being based in Gibraltar, although their HQ is in Stratford.

Coral are one of an elite few bookmakers who would make an excellent choice if you were to pick just one company with whom to place all your bets. Whatever sport, event or game you want to bet on will be covered and the odds will rarely be too far off the best.

In addition, if you like playing casino games, live dealer casino action, slots, bingo, poker or even lotto – and doing pretty much all of that either online or via your mobile or tablet – Coral have got you covered too. (Also see our Coral Casino Review.)

Coral mobile betting site overview

Free bet: £20 for a £5 bet
Devices: iPhone and Android apps but all mobile devices supported
Best feature: Excellent range of ongoing offers and occasional mobile-only free bets and bonuses
Worst feature: Free bet is small (although with only £5 risk a 400% bonus is pretty good!)

Coral free bets and bonuses

Coral’s welcome free bet is a generous 400% offer and whilst a £20 free bet is a lot smaller than many rivals, the fact you are only risking £5 of your own money will be loved by beginners and those with a small bankroll, or indeed anyone who likes excellent value for that matter.

The £20 free bet is credited immediately as long as your qualifying bet is at odds of at least 1/2 (1.50 in decimal betting odds) and the free bet token is valid for seven days. Your qualifying bet must be made within 14 days of registering your Coral account – either online, via mobile or on a tablet – and the stake is not returned with the free bet.

Coral also offer their fantastic Beaten by a Head offer which applies to all UK and Irish, and selected international, flat meetings. This means that if your horse is beaten into second place by a margin of a head or less you get a free bet to the value of your stake with the maximum free bet being £25. With live streaming and Best Odds Guaranteed this makes for an excellent package for racing fans.

Football fans are also really well looked after, with the Coral Football Jackpot offering a weekly jackpot of at least £100,000 for just a £1 stake, and if no one wins it rolls over and it’s been over £1m at times! Alternatively, Coral’s Lucky 7 is a free to enter competition where you can win £1,000 each week.

With regular free bet offers on golf tournaments, as well as price boosts, enhanced each way odds and loads of money back specials for the biggest events in a range of sports, there is no shortage of free bets and offers at coral. So get over there and get stuck in!

So how good is the Coral mobile site?

Coral’s mobile site is very good, whether you are playing poker, bingo, casino games or just having a bet on your favourite spot. All of those options are available on mobile and all are fast, easy to use and work very well on all modern smartphones, with our preferred method of access simply to visit the Coral site, as opposed to using the available apps (for Apple and Android).

It really couldn’t be any simpler to use so why not try it for yourself, with the full range of sports bets and an increasing number of other options available on Coral mobile whenever you like, wherever you are. Racing fans can even access live streams of all UK, Irish and Dubai races, meaning not only can you have a bet but you can watch the races too!

Coral odds and markets

Coral offer a really wide range of sports and offer good depth, in terms of markets, on most of these. As a UK bookie there is certainly a UK focus, with football, horse racing, greyhounds and traditional “British” sports, such as darts, snooker, golf, cricket and tennis all very well catered for. However, increasingly there is plenty of coverage of lesser sports, including European ones such as handball and speedway, as well as “American” events such as ice hockey, basketball, baseball and NFL.

In addition there are plenty of specials available at Coral, including bets on awards ceremonies, the weather, the Royals and a host of other weird and wonderful options. This is not specialist area for Coral but it’s not a weakness either.

When it comes to odds they are very consistent without ever being truly spectacular. This makes them great as an everyday option but perhaps not suited to someone who is very price conscious and always wanting the very best possible odds.

Coral customer service and contact details

Coral customer support is good but there is room for improvement, the main issue being that it is not 24/7. Opening times are from 7am until midnight (UK time) which is going to be fine 99% of the time for UK customers but most of the top rivals are 24/7.

They added a live chat option a while ago and this is a big help as it means you can get an answer immediately (most of the time) and staff members are efficient, with waiting times short. In addition you can use an internal messaging system, freephone telephone option (from inside the UK) or you can send an email.

All in all they score well here but until support is available 24/7 we can’t give Coral top marks in this area.

Coral overall verdict

Coral have always been a great brand and a name you can trust but in the last few years they have really improved, with a much fresher website and a wider – and better – range of free bets, bonuses and promotions. With a great mobile site too they are undoubtedly among the top group of bookmakers and gambling sites in the world.
